Wax care & safety
At Unusual Alchemy our wax melts consist of soy wax and a percentage of fragrance oil. The melts are suitable for use in tea light burners and electric burners. You may find that with tealight burners the scent given off is stronger due to the higher heat compared to electric burners. On the other hand when using an electric burner you may find you can get more use from the melts due to the lower temp that the bulb or heat plate gives off
How to use
- Remove from packaging, break appropriate size for your burner
- Place into the burner well. As the well heats up the wax will begin to melt - allowing the scents to fill your home.
- When the tea light has been blown out or the burner turned off, the wax will re-harden ready for next use
- Unlike candles, wax melts do not evaporate. You can continue to use the wax multiple times until the scent has worn off.
- When you want to remove the wax the best way to do this is when starting to melt the wax you can pop it out of the well. Also using anything like cotton wool pads to soak up and wipe out the well. Dispose of these in a bin.
Important Stuff
- Always use within sight, and never leave unattended
- Always ensure that you do not overfill your burner well
- Keep melted wax away from pets and children
- Do not eat
- Never pour melted wax down plug holes
- Wax and burner will remain hot after the tea light has been blown out/burner switched off
- Do not try to move the burner until it has cooled completely and the wax has hardened
- Do not add water or fragrance oils to wax melt well
- Keep wax clear of debris
- Only use unscented tea lights as fragrance ones burn too hot & can impact your scent experience
- Only use standard sized 4hr tea lights. Never use the larger 8hr tea lights or multiples as these can cause the burners to break
- Never place burner in freezer to help dislodge wax. This can weaken structure of the burner
- Ensure that the surface under the burner is heatproof
